Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has been thrown into turmoil after a 2020-batch student of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department was allegedly found to have stored videos of sexual abuse and forced physical relations on his Google Drive — with content reportedly involving multiple victims of varying ages, including schoolgirls, a domestic worker, and a woman over the age of sixty.

According to students and accounts circulating on campus, the accused logged into his Google Drive on a computer in one of the university’s labs on Sunday (April 26) and forgot to log out. Students of the 2022 batch of the Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) department later arrived at the lab and saw the open account.

Inside, students said, photos and videos of various individuals had been stored in separate folders organised by name — content that, according to allegations from those who saw it, had been kept as “trophies.” Fellow students claim the drive contained around a dozen videos of forced physical relations and sexual abuse, and allege that the accused engaged in non-consensual physical acts with multiple women.

After the discovery, agitated students went to Fazlul Haq Hall on Sunday night to confront the accused student and demand answers. According to student accounts, when confronted, he did not deny the allegations and instead invoked religious remorse — reportedly telling those present that he felt “deeply guilty” and would offer twenty rakats of nafl prayers each time. Students described the response as an attempt at emotional manipulation. At one point, tensions escalated into a scuffle between the two sides, before the situation was brought under control through the intervention of the university administration.

Students of the CSE department have since refused to attend classes alongside the accused, demanding what they have called “exemplary punishment.” The university has formed a three-member investigation committee to look into the incident.
